Exploring Sorrento

Road-tripping it with your sister is one of life’s little pleasures! We packed up the car, cranked up the tunes, and drove down to the beautiful Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula.

Located about an hour and a half south of Melbourne, this quaint little seaside town is high on the list for a great little day trip, and has hidden treasures around every corner.

We started out on the Sorrento Back Beach, always gorgeously rugged, a few brave surfers, and a gentle stroll along the beach. I love Sorrento at this time of year, even when it’s cold, all you need is to rug up, keep warm, and enjoy the breath-taking views and fresh ocean air.

Sorrento is the kind of place where you go for a weekend away, or for the day, enjoy the al fresco dining, have a cold beer at one of the historic pubs, and soak up the atmosphere.

We browsed through galleries, stores, and boutiques, then finished off the day at the cute little bistro Cakes & Ale, with a cured meats platter, vintage cheeses, and a smooth bottle of local Foxey’s Hangout Pinot Noir.

No matter what your preference, Sorrento is a great place to satisfy all tastes. Try swimming with dolphins, immersing yourself in the rich history of the early European settlers, or wandering along the limestone storefronts. You can even shop for designer clothing, or pick up a little unique handmade treasure from a local artist.

See you soon Sorrento, we miss you already!
